MISSIONARY POSITION

Missionary Position Show Case was the culmination of my Exchange at the Australian National University, Canberra ACT. The show consisted of examples of work I made while studying in the glass craft workshop under the guidance of Director Stephen Procktor and codirector Jane Bruce. The content of the show discussed the ideas surrounding the missionization of Australia, PNG, New Zealand, and the Torris islands archipelago. The main focus in my imagery is the glass life cast taken from a friend who was a native Missionary from PNG  and was about the bleaching of native culture achieved by removing children of native populations and raising generations inside the church until the culture, language and traditions all but disappeared. Also included in the show were examples of glass I made to demonstrate skills from workshops I attended on grants received from the department.  This is an example of some of the early political social action work that formed ideas and techniques I still use today.
